Question 1

Do I have to do anything?

Accepted Answer

No. Unlike a habit tracker or wird app, Zikr never asks you to open it, tap it, or count. It speaks on its own — you just hear it.

Question 2

What platforms does Zikr support?

Accepted Answer

macOS 14+ (Intel and Apple Silicon), most major Linux distributions (a .deb for Debian/Ubuntu/Mint/Pop!_OS, a user-local installer for others), Windows 10 and 11, and Android 8+ (APK download, no Play Store listing yet).

Question 3

Is Zikr free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Zikr is free and open source under the MIT license. There are no accounts, subscriptions, or in-app purchases.

Question 4

Does Zikr need an internet connection?

Accepted Answer

No, once installed it runs entirely offline. It only reaches the network if you click Check for Updates.

Question 5

Does Zikr play Adhan or show prayer times?

Accepted Answer

No. Zikr is intentionally scoped to one thing only: random dhikr reminders. It does not include Adhan, prayer times, Qibla, or any other feature.

Question 6

Which zikr phrases are included?

Accepted Answer

A curated set of general, anytime adhkar from the well-known Hisnul Muslim (Fortress of the Muslim) collection, including SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illallah, Astaghfirullah, and others.

Question 7

Does Zikr collect any data?

Accepted Answer

The app collects nothing - no analytics, no telemetry, no account - and your settings never leave your device. The website is separate: it counts anonymous page views through Cloudflare Web Analytics, with no cookies and nothing that identifies you.
